MOTOR CLAIMS

Motor insurance is one of the most active and time-sensitive areas of loss adjustment. Every day, vehicles are involved in collisions, thefts, and accidental damages that demand immediate, impartial, and technically accurate assessment.
At Q.A. Shirazi Surveyors, we combine engineering expertise with on-ground efficiency to deliver swift and reliable motor claim evaluations for both insurers and policyholders.

Our team includes qualified mechanical engineers and experienced automotive assessors capable of analyzing everything from minor fender-benders to total-loss accidents involving commercial fleets, high-value private cars, and heavy transport vehicles.
We ensure that every repair estimate, damage classification, and depreciation allowance reflects true market conditions and manufacturer standards — protecting both insurer and insured interests.

A motor claim arises when a vehicle suffers loss or damage due to accident, theft, fire, or other insured perils under a Motor Insurance Policy. The claim may cover physical damage to the vehicle, liability to third parties, or injury to occupants.

While the fundamentals seem straightforward, accurate assessment requires technical judgment — identifying the mechanism of impact, verifying repair feasibility, and ensuring that policy conditions are fully met.

Common Types of Motor Claims

  • Own Damage (OD): Collision, overturning, fire, theft, or malicious damage to the insured vehicle.

  • Third-Party Property Damage: Legal liability for damage to another person’s vehicle or property.

  • Third-Party Bodily Injury / Death: Compensation payable to injured persons or their dependents under statutory and policy obligations.

  • Theft and Total Loss: Complete disappearance or irreparable destruction of the insured vehicle.

  • Windscreen / Minor Component Claims: Localized breakages or small-scale repairs.

Motor insurance policies in Pakistan generally fall into two main categories:

  1. Comprehensive (Own Damage + Third-Party): Covers loss or damage to the insured vehicle and legal liability to third parties for injury or property damage.

  2. Third-Party Only: Provides statutory coverage for liability towards third-party injury or property damage.

Typical Policy Features

  • Sum Insured: Usually the Insured Declared Value (IDV) based on market or invoice value.

  • Deductible: Portion of the claim borne by the insured.

  • Add-ons / Endorsements: Accessories cover, windscreen cover, theft of parts, or roadside assistance.

  • Exclusions: Mechanical failure, wear and tear, driving under the influence, or use outside stated purpose.

  • Claim form and copy of insurance certificate.

  • Police report / FIR (in case of theft or major accident).

  • Copy of vehicle registration, driver’s license, and CNIC.
